Peptides, plainly explained
Short chains of amino acids with long marketing copy. What the evidence supports, and what it doesn't.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids. In skincare they are usually sold as messengers: small signals meant to nudge skin towards making more of its own structural proteins.
What to expect
The realistic promise is modest: better-feeling, better-hydrated skin over weeks, with some studies showing small improvements in fine lines. They are gentle, which is their real advantage. Peptides rarely irritate, so they sit well beside stronger actives.
How to use them
- Apply to clean skin, before heavier creams.
- Pair with sunscreen in the morning. No serum outworks daily SPF.
- Give it eight to twelve weeks before you judge it.
If a label promises results in days, it is selling the bottle, not the peptide.
